Last week I was able to walk my first consecutive mile! I had some previous long periods of walking (for example, I had gone to the gun show last month)
Last night, while I was walking our dog, Bella I had this thought pop in my head.
“Wow, dude, you’ve come a long way since walking the ICU unit you were in and the post-ICU hospital floor.”
Walking a few feet in the hospital seemed like a huge feat, and it was at that moment, but wow! Now I’m walking a mile, I’m up and down stairs, and I’m considerably more mobile than I have been!
I am so very thankful that while the victories seem small, they keep building and building. Prior to surgery, one of the doctors from the transplant team said I would feel like a brand new man, almost like I was 18 again! Looking forward to that, I still have a ways to go! For now, and well, the rest of my life, I’m going to take it a moment at a time, stepping where Jesus steps.
